Mayor bernd rebhan proudly declared that the site of the former paint factory in kups, which had been restored at considerable expense, could now be handed over to a new owner for sensible use, and thus informed the public about a decision taken at the most recent meeting of the environment and construction committee.
After the acquisition of the industrial wasteland in a forced auction in november 2019, the removal of the contaminated sites and the demolition of the existing buildings, more than 2,400 square meters of building land in an attractive location were created, supported by the north-east bavaria development offensive.
"Building land is a valuable asset that is becoming increasingly sought-after!", says the head of the municipality. Three potential bidders applied for the space and presented their utilization concepts.
The environmental and building committee in the market town of kups was convinced by the proposal of the oberfrankische baugenossenschaft, which intends to create a housing complex with 18 barrier-free rental apartments, some of which will be earmarked for social housing construction. This makes it possible for socially disadvantaged people to rent affordable housing.
The mayor thanked the key person involved in the project, head of the building department christian ebertsch, and head of the building yard jurgen ludwig.
The members of the board of the upper franconian building cooperative in kronach, jurgen trebes and architect uwe doring, were delighted with the award of the contract. He announced that construction would begin in 2024, with an estimated construction time of two years and a contract volume of 3.5 – 4 million euros. The building cooperative already has several houses with 78 apartments in kups .
